Johns Hopkins Congdon II, a native of Providence, RI, has been designing and making high-end custom furniture for over 30 years. Being self-taught, he studied the traditional “masters” of design with a personal study of period furniture and went on to reproduce most of the classics. Johns has developed a national clientele that stretches from Pacific Heights, San Francisco to Park Ave, NYC, with collections based in traditional and original custom work.
For the last ten years he has been pushing his patrons into contemporary pieces by collaborating on design with his wife, Giovanna Brunini Congdon, who is a painter. Together they have designed and built two homes for their family and a third project, a stone ruin of a farmhouse in Italy awaits their attention. Johns and Giovanna live with their three children in Charlotte, Vermont.
